3G? [HP iPAQ 614c Value Pack - 158136]

Hi Everyone,

Like others, I am looking forward to the release of this phone.  Does anyone know if it will support 3G in the US?  I was one of those people who pre-ordered a HTC 730 from expansys with the assumption that the 3G would work and then was greatly disapointed when I received it and the 3G would not work.  Needless to say, I'm really looking for a good smartphone that supports 3G in the US (and I don't want to buy the tilt from AT&T).  Any info that anyone could supply would be most appreciated.  Thanks in advace!

 Cheers...

It is Quad Band GMS and Tri Band UMTS (UMTS 850, UMTS 1900, and UMTS 2100) so it will work in the US, as well as anywhere else in the world.

Any update on a release date, expansys?

Hi DSwarP,

Thanks for the quick response.  Just so I am properly educated, is it the UMTS 2100 that makes it 3G compliant in the US?  My HTC s730 has VERY similar specs.

GSM/GPRS/EDGE/UMTS/HSDPA Function - Internal antenna
-HSDPA/UMTS
-2100MHz for Europe
- GSM/GPRS/EDGE (quad-band 850/900/1800/1900 MHz)
- HSDPA/UMTS
- 3GPP Release 5 compliant
- UE category 6, 3.6Mbps peak rate
- DL up to 1.8Mbps and UL up to 384Kbps
- EGPRS Function
- EGPRS class B
- Multi-slot standard class 10

- PBCCH

Thanks again for the help.  And if expansys could chime in on the release that would be super!  Looks like this phone might clear up my mistaken purchase of the s730.

No, it's the UMTS 850 and UMTS 1900 bands that make it work in the USA. They use the same spectrum for GSM as they do for UMTS in America. That's why you see GSM 850 and GSM 1900 as well as UMTS 850 and UMTS 1900.
